When I’m Weary…

Weary – A Five Minute Friday Piece

By: Gramma Sue

I'm teaming up with Kate at #FMF (Five Minute Friday) where everyone practices writing together. It's really easy. Just set your timer for 5 minutes. Write on the topic of "weary" and then share your story. Read what others are writing about the one-word topic, "weary". Have fun!

Since Dani is busy signing up for horse riding lessons, I'm going to step up and play the "Five Minute Friday" game. "Weary" is a word that was on Dani's vocabulary list last week and it's a word I've known all too well.

Lisa Bevere, in Lioness Arising, said, "You are not meant to hide in the dark and hope for an escape. You are meant to be an unbeatable, unconquerable, and unshakeable daughter of Zion."

As I was reading Micah 4:9-12, I sensed God saying to our enemies, "Enough! You thought you had destroyed my children, but you haven't. Instead, you've prepared them!"

When I'm weary and depressed I follow the Light. I read God's Word and I walk outdoors and soak in God's creation. I especially love to visit our sunflowers. And soon I begin to sense God's presence and He gives me a new perspective.

I want to be unshakeable, unbeatable… so I shake off the weariness that so often settles on my shoulders and sinks into my heart. I rise up and dance. I am a daughter of Zion!

    From Psalm 43…. another Five-Minute-Friday writer reminded me of what God says…

    Send out your light and your truth;
        let them guide me.
    Let them lead me to your holy mountain,
        to the place where you live.
    There I will go to the altar of God,
        to God—the source of all my joy.
    I will praise you with my harp,
        O God, my God!
    Why am I weary?
        Why is my heart so sad?
    I will put my hope in God!
        I will praise him again—
        my Savior and my God!"

    How encouraging it is to read each other's words… it's like a gushing fountain of living water each Friday, in a dry and weary land! 🙂

    We are daughters of Zion??!  I have never thought of that.  We are desendants of Believers.  We are promised eternity and protection.  Thank you!  Jenn

    Loved your response to the word. I myself have taken great strength from Micah and see, in my own life, how all the hardship has simply been preparation. Helen {A FMF friend}
