What I Would Do to Change the World

What I Can Do to Change the World

By: Dani

Everyone can change the world. It's not so hard. I was thinking about this and one day I went to get some homemade ice tea. Inside the bottle cap it says, "Love not war," so I think to myself that well today was an off day. What can I do to change it? The message made me think about choosing love.

I thought, "Well, I am going to write about that, because some times there is war, not love. So I thought I should write about this to help stop war and love instead.

What do you think about that? Well, I think it is good to bring love and peace insead of war. I think the world would be filled with love. But frown well this world has some love but I think it needs more.

But I can't make that happen by myself. It takes everybody choosing love. So people just neeed to do their part and bring peace and love into this world and do the best they can.

I wrote this song about what I think it looks like to change the world.

"I wake up in the morning,

I see the trees and sky.

I go outside.

I see the birds and the butterflies,

I say a little prayer for someone.

Then I do something for someone.

Our brains are for thinking about God.

Then we say a little prayer for someone.

We do something for someone."

So that's what I would do to change the world.

Bye for now!

Have you been encouraged here today?

I like, in your song, how you begin with waking up in the morning, Dani. This morning I happened to be reading in Jeremiah 21 and in verse 14 he says, "Start each day by dealing with justice. Rescue victims from their exploitation."

The evil regime God's people were being exploited by was their own country, their own leaders, and even their own priests. The only thing that separates us from being evil ourselves (whether through our silent compliance, turning our heads the other way, or being involved in exploitation ourselves) is acting in justice – helping the victims.

It's when we give a room to the homeless, food to the hungry, or even more – when we help someone escape from an evil person – that we are showing we are citizens of a different country, the Kingdom of God. We bring Heaven's rule to earth's bullies.

I pray God helps us to not only read about these principles but helps us to love justice, to act kindly and courageously. In the book of MIcah, chapter six and verse eight, the prophet says:

But he’s already made it plain how to live, what to do,
what God is looking for in men and women.
It’s quite simple: Do what is fair and just to your neighbor,
be compassionate and loyal in your love,
And don’t take yourself too seriously—
        take God seriously.

Oh Dani, I believe this is God's Word for us today. I really, truly love your song. I remember when you first sang it, at age six, and together we wrote it down so that you would always have your song. I'm glad we saved it! 🙂
