The Tower Of Babel

My Huge Plan Exploded!

By: Dani – for my History 6 class with Mr. Bradley Fish

Edited with Gramma Sue

My name is Nimrod. I am the most powerful man in the world. I can do whatever I want and I get away with anything I like. One day I woke up with a huge vision to build a tower that reached to the heavens.

You see, I don't want anyone to worship the real, true God. So I made up a bunch of fake gods, because you can control people better when religion is a big part of their lives. I feel like a GOD!

Whenever I make a command, my people jump right in and make it happen. That's how my tower grew and grew and grew, higher and higher and higher. I named my tower. the tower of babel.

God was not too happy about me taking control of the earth and pushing Him away. One day something really weird happened and I couldn't figure out how to make it stop.

Everyone all of the sudden was speaking in different languages. It caused so much confusion that all the work stopped! I couldn't tell anyone what to do because they couldn't understand a word I said!

I was so furious that I stomped, yelled, and screamed all afternoon until dark. This confusion went on and on and on for many days and weeks.

All work stopped on the tower and has not been worked on since. My huge plan exploded on me. I don't think I will ever try to do that again.

The people have divided into groups. Each group has their own language and now they are all traveling to different cities. I don't feel like such a big king anymore, not even like a god… like I deserve to be treated.

I think I'll scream some more. Maybe I will never stop screaming.

Have you been encouraged here today?

Good essay! I have to ask by editing does your grandma just help by giving suggestions ? Or do you write it and then she takes it and "re-writes" it? I belive she should just give suggestions not edit. Idk maybe not. Just a thought.

That’s a great suggestion, Rebecca (this is Gramma Sue).

In Susan Bradrick’s Understanding Writing course editing is taught as the final phase in every writing project. The student is helped to see their project through from the rough draft phase all the way through the final copywriting stages. In this particular article, I helped Dani in all phases of her writing, but she’s an extraordinary storyteller and writer in every way, all on her own.

Hi Rebecca! Gramma and I pretended we were at the Tower of Babel and she asked me which character I wanted to play. I didn’t know, so she suggested I be Nimrod. Nimrod seems like a really bossy guy. I won’t say who that reminds me of. But I know someone like that!

Your blog is really nice. I’m glad to meet you. See you later!
