See It, Feel It – Love, not War!
One day I went to get some homemade ice tea. Inside the bottle cap it says, "Love not war," so I think to myself that well today was an off day. What can I do to change it? The message made me think about choosing love.
I thought, "Well, I am going to write about that, because some times there is war, not love. So I thought I should write about this to help stop war and love instead.
What do you think about that? Well, I think it is good to bring love and peace insead of war. I think the world would be filled with love. But well this world has some love but I think it needs more.
But I can't make that happen by myself. It takes everybody choosing love. So people just neeed to do their part and bring peace and love into this world and do the best they can.
I asked my grandma to read this. And she said to me…
Remember when you were a little girl, Dani, about 6 years old and you said, "Gramma, lay down. I want to sing a song to you." Giving me a pillow and covering me with a blanket, you began to sing:
"I wake up in the morning,
I see the trees and sky.
I go outside.
I see the birds and the butterflies,
I say a little prayer for someone.
Then I do something for someone.
Our brains are for thinking about God.
Then we say a little prayer for someone.
We do something for someone."
Dani, you explained to me, "Gramma, you don't hear God with your ears. You listen with your heart. And then you sing what you hear in your heart."
It's pretty simple. We just have to become like a child to enter His Kingdom. Dani, you are showing me and everyone around you what the Kingdom of Heaven looks like! This is what you cause me to think:
What if I wake up in the morning and take a few minutes to be grateful, to soak up the beauty of a new day, to praise God for the joys of life. Then as I go about my daily tasks I look for opportunities to smile, to chat with someone, to fix something for someone, to do something for someone.
Okay, now I imagine a whole neighborhood doing the same… a whole city…
We don't have to engage in grand, heroic actions to participate in the process of change. Small acts, when multiplied by millions of people, can transform the world. ~ Howard Zinn
What does a world filled with love look like? What is love, according to God's standard?
Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn't want what it doesn't have.
Love doesn't strut,
Doesn't have a swelled head,
Doesn't force itself on others,
Isn't always "me first,"
Doesn't fly off the handle,
Doesn't keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn't revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.
It's about all of us getting out of our houses, out of our own personal worlds, out of our own struggles, and going to meet our friends and neighbors, wouldn't you say, Dani?
And that's what you've been doing already this morning. You're taking care of our next door neighbor's cat and dog. And then you went across the backyard to take care of another neighbor's two bird dogs. Then another neighbor called and asked you to come and care for her dog!
You're gaining a reputation in town for being a dependable neighbor, and the animals love you, too.
Dani, what if your writing this post helps just one person to get outside and find someone to be kind to? I know you make a big difference in my life every day!
