The Great Wall of China

The Great Wall of China was built to protect the unified country of China during the reign of the first emperor, Qin Shi Huang.

The Great Wall was built by prisoners and slaves. They worked in the rain and were not allowed to rest. Under these harsh conditions many of the builders died. Their bodies were dumped inside the Wall and covered with dirt.

Even if the workers survived, they still killed them because they were afraid the secrets of the Great Wall would be revealed.

The Great Wall of China stretches for over 2000 miles and can be seen from space.
